FAQ of Apple Music Converter

TuneCable's Apple Music Converter is a powerful music converter which can help you convert Apple Music files, audiobooks and M4P music files to MP3, M4A, WAV, or FLAC format. Q1. How to register Apple Music Converter?

For Windows: Click the top-right "Menu" button and choose "Register" in the drop-down list, you will get the registration window. Then copy and paste the Email and Code into the registration popup dialog.

For Mac: Click the menu bar and click Apple Music Converter. Choose Registration in the drop-down list, you will get the register window below. Or directly click the red word "Unregistered" to open the registration window.

Q2. What can I do if I get the message "Invalid Code" when trying to register?

First please make sure that you have downloaded the right program. The registration information is case sensitive. And, please do not add blank at the beginning or the end of the word. You can also copy and paste the E-mail and Code into the registration popup dialog. If you are sure that you are running the right program and following the direction but still get the error message, please contact our support team for help.

Q3. How to solve the problem that it fails to read iTunes library?

Firstly, please make sure you have downloaded the music to your computer, and it can play normally in iTunes. And please make sure your computer is well authorized with the same Apple ID that you used when downloading the iTunes music.

Secondly, if you have downloaded the music to your computer, but the program still fails to read them. Please follow these steps to fix this issue:

  • Uninstall TuneCable from your computer
  • Delete "iTunes Music Library.xml" from the folder. For mac users, you can find the file through: your home directory –> Music –> iTunes. For Windows users: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes
  • Download and install the program from Download Center (don't start it)
  • Start iTunes and play a song to automatically generate .xml file
  • Close iTunes and start TuneCable

Q4. Why the output file is only 3 minutes long?

It's the limitation of the trial version. After you have bought a single user license, we'll send you a key/code to unlock the limitation.

Q5. What kind of audio formats could be converted?

Any audio files that could be played on your iTunes, could be converted by Apple Music Converter, including Apple Music files, iTunes music and audiobooks, music file you purchased, audio book you bought from Audible, etc.

Q6. How to solve the problem of "Conversion Failed"?

For this error, we have some suggestion for you, please try and check if it helps to fix this issue.

1. Please make sure that you are using the latest version of the program. If not, please download the latest version through https://www.tunecable.com/download.html

2. Please make sure the original audio can be played on iTunes normally, and your computer is well authorized with the same Apple ID that you used when downloading those songs from iTunes.

3. Please check whether the problem only happens to individual files, if so, please try to convert them again.

4. For Windows users, please make sure iTunes is closed. Please don't use iTunes while converting.

5. Please check whether is there any external audio device connected with your computer while conversion, including USB, Wi-Fi, Airplay, Bluetooth and HDMI, etc. If so, please disconnect them and retry.

6. For Mac users, please refer to Q21 below to delete the driver file under "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MJRecorderDevice.driver", then reboot your Mac and retry:

Q7. What should I pay attention while using TuneCable Apple Music Converter?

You should quit iTunes before running Apple Music Converter, and you'd better don't use iTunes while converting. Any operations on iTunes while converting may affect the result.

Q8. Solutions to Error 1000, 1005, 1008?

The error code "1000", "1005" and "1008" mean that the input/output path does not exist or the program fails to create the output files or the name of the output path is too long, please change the output path on the program by clicking the Setting button.

Q9. Solutions to Error 1001?

The error code "1001" means that the program fails to launch iTunes. Please relaunch the program and make sure that no other programs have been opened to disturb iTunes.

Q10. Solutions to Error 1002?

The error code "1002" means that iTunes fails to play your music. For this error, please try and check if the following tips help to fix this issue.

  • Please make sure that you are using the latest version of the program. If not, please download the latest version through https://www.tunecable.com/download.html
  • Please make sure the original audio can be played on iTunes normally, and your computer is well authorized with the same Apple ID that you used when downloading those songs from iTunes.
  • Please check whether the problem only happens to individual files, if so, please try to convert them again.
  • Please check whether is there any external audio device connected with your computer while conversion, including USB, Wi-Fi, Airplay, Bluetooth and HDMI, etc. If so, please disconnect them and retry.

Q11. Solutions to Error 1004/1006/1009?

The error code 1004/1006/1009 means that iTunes crashed. Please reinstall your iTunes by clicking https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64 to check whether the issue can be fixed.

Q12. Solutions to Error 1007?

If there are multiple devices logged into the same iTunes account and play music at the same time, then you will get the error code "1007". In this case, please make sure you are using iTunes on this computer alone while running TuneCable.

Q13. Solutions to Error 5008?

The error code "5008" mean that the input/output path does not exist or the program fails to create the output files or the name of the output path is too long, please change the output path on the program by clicking the Setting button.

Q14. Where can I get the converted files?

TuneCable Apple Music Converter for Windows:

The converted files are stored in the output folder. Click the "History" button in the main interface to find the output audio.

Q15. The output audio quality is unsatisfied, how to improve the output quality?

TuneCable Apple Music Converter for Windows:

Please update your program to the latest version. If the problem persists, please set the output format as MP3 and bitrate as 256kbps to have a try. To customize the output format, please click the Setting button. There will be a pop-up window to let you set output settings. If the output quality is still unsatisfied after such settings, please contact our support for further help.

Please set the output format as MP3, bitrate as 256kbps and slow down the converting speed to have a try. To customize output settings, please open program preferences by clicking Menu Bar > TuneCable iMusic Converter > Preferences or directly clicking the Setting button on the main interface. Then, set "MP3" as output format, "Medium (256kbps)" as output quality and "5x" or lower as convert speed in the pop-up window. If the output quality is still unsatisfied after such settings, please contact our support for further help.

Q16. How to solve the problem that the output files have several short breaks of silence when played back?

Please disable the Crossfade Songs in iTunes > Preferences > Playback.

Q18. How to organize the output audio into Artist / Album folders?

Before converting, please click the Setting button on the top-right corner, and then check the box of the "Artist/ Album" after Output Organized. Now, TuneCable program supports saving the output audio into Artist, Album, Artist/Album or Album/Artist folder for meeting various users' needs.

Q19. How to do if there is no sound in the output audio on Windows?

Please open iTunes Preferences by clicking "Edit >> Preferences" and choose the "Playback", then select "Windows Audio Session" from the drop-down list of "Play Audio Using" and click "OK". After that, close iTunes and launch TuneCable to convert those songs again.

Q20. Whether the metadata can be kept after conversion?

When choosing MP3 or AAC as output format, all the metadata info (including title, artist, album, year, track number and genre) will be kept by default.

Q21. What to do if your Mac sound is not working after using TuneCable?

The sound has stopped working on your Mac after using TuneCable? No worries, you can refer to this guide to get your Mac's speakers working again:

(1) Open "Terminal" on machine. You can do this by click "Applications" folder in Finder, then open "Utilities" and double-click on "Terminal".

(2) Copy this code: sudo rm -rf /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MJRecorderDevice.driver and paste it to the pop up terminal window, and press "Return". Then enter the password of your Mac and press "Enter" on the keyboard.

(3) Close this "Terminal" window on Mac.

(4) Restart your machine. Restart your Mac and then you can play the audio normally via media devices.

Q22. How to Make TuneCable Work Faster under Mac OS X 10.13?

As Mac OS X 10.13 (High Sierra) includes new security measures, TuneCable Apple Music Converter only supports converting Apple Music at 1X speed under it with SIP enabled. So in order to convert music files at up to 20X speed, please refer to "How to Make TuneCable Work Faster under Mac OS X 10.13" to turn SIP off.
