TuneCable always adheres to its philosophy to provide the best downloading services to its customers.
Anyone familiar with TuneCable knows that one of the most outstanding features of the program is to convert Spotify Music at up to 10X speed conversion.
Unfortunately, in June 2021 Spotify has changed it’s attitude towards “high speed recording”.
The US copyright law describes clearly in chapter 10, section 1008: No action may be brought under this title alleging infringement of copyright based on the manufacture, importation, or distribution of a digital audio recording device, a digital audio recording medium, an analog recording device, or an analog recording medium, or based on the noncommercial use by a consumer of such a device or medium for making digital musical recordings or analog musical recordings.
So from copyright law point of view, there is nothing to worry about recording music. However, when signing up to Spotify, you may have agreed to “terms of use”, including that you won’t record from it.
In general, it is indistinguishable for Spotify whether you are recording or not while listening to Spotify. So in general, recording is invisible to Spotify. Why the recording has been detected then?
Spotify has a very interesting "high-speed" function: Both the server and the PC software are able to work roughly 30 times as fast as in real time. The function has been hidden in the app though, some tools might still be able to activate it.
We utilized that technology in TuneCable, allowing to speed up Spotify so that users can record so much faster, which can be a cpnvenience for all. However, when the function is activated, the data have also been saved and sent to Spotify automatically. That is to say, even you are not using TuneCable anymore for a long time, you might still be affected.
Fortunately, the problem can be solved relatively easily with the following steps. Spotify doesn't want to lose its subscribers either, so they offer a choice:
“If you believe this was in error, and/or would like to regain access to your account, please reach out to Customer Service and confirm you will not engage in unauthorized content downloads from our service going forward and we will grant access back to your account shortly."
Therefore, you can still retrive your account.
1) Contact Spotify support at https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-anonymous/
2) Confirm to Spotify support that you are no longer engaging in “illegal content downloads”.
3) After that, do NOT use the "high speed" function in TuneCable for recordings from Spotify.
4) Do not use any other tools for Spotify, as many of them use the high-speed function by default.
Apart from this issue, we always recommend you to comply to Spotify Terms of Use.
TuneCable sincerely apologizes for what may cause you inconvenience. We merely want to bring you fast and smooth conversion at first, and we will learn a lesson from this case and promise to offer better services to our customers.
